Hi! I just discovered Kinderhook Lake today. Is it possible to launch my canoe, which is very heavy and rigged for fishing so it is trailered. Is it possible to arrange using the launch to get out on the lake to see it before paying for a membership and key?

    • archman8

Trailed access to the lake is via the Rt 28 launch and requires the very reasonable purchase of a membership ($125) and gate key ($15). This provides you with an entire season of access to a beautiful 375-acre lake. If you have been following us on Facebook and on our website, you understand the high costs associated with maintaining the lake and dam, which are paid for only by membership fees and donations. The KLC receives no funding from any local, state, or federal agencies. Thanks for your interest in Kinderhook Lake.

Where is the best spots to swim in the lake if I were to head out on a kayak?

    • archman8

One of the favorite swimming spots around the lake is at One Tree Island.

We paid our $125 dues for this year and received our sign to post in our car but did not receive a new key. We assumed this meant last year’s key would work. Drove down to the lake only to find out key doesn’t work? Can someone tell me how to get a key?

    Thanks,

Since you just purchased a key on our website, we’ll assume you understand the issue. We change the key each year. Thanks for your support. Please note that you will (hopefully) receive a sticker to display in the rear window of your car instead of the member poster.

    Hello,
I am interested in learning about your experience with the ecoHarvester. Is there anyone I could call to discuss?
    Please let me know.

Hi: I am new to the area. Can you please tell me about swimming at the Lake? Is there public access? and if so where is it located? Is it weedy and not really a swimming lake? Thank you!

    • archman8

Welcome to the area. KL is a clean and enjoyable lake for swimming. However, there are no public access points for swimming. You would need permission from one of the shoreline owners.

Have you guys used the Eco Harvester to “pull” invasives from the lake? We are a pond association in Massachusetts and have had bad millfoil and now tapegrass (eel grass) problems. Does this machine REALLY pull from the roots as they advertise and promote? Also is the machine reliable. It’s a lot of money for a small association, but worth it if it works. Any feedback greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Norm nmarowitz@gmail.com or 617-799-0084

Would like to obtain membership for 2020. When would be the best time to submit my application and fees?

  • Jeff

I would like to obtain membership and a launch key for 2020. Do I have to wait until after Jan 1st or can I send an application with fees prior to that for the upcoming year?

    • archman8

Sorry for the delayed response. As much as we’d apprecitiate an early membership, waiting until after the first of the year would work best. (1) memberships are accounted for on a calendar year basis and (2) the 2020 launch keys are ususally not avalable until after the first of the year. Thanks for your interest and understanding.

It is with a heavy heart I am informing all of the passing of Jim Vandenburg. Jim lived on Ottoville Road (north end of lake) and his family was our neighbor for 60 years. I grew up with Jim and his brother Reggie. Jim was a true gentleman and lover of the lake and boats. My thoughts and prayers are for the family. Rest in peace friend.
